Best Budget projector

1. VANKYO LEISURE 3 Mini Projector

VANKYO LEISURE 3 Mini Projector
Features of VANKYO LEISURE 3 Mini Projector

For a projector that won’t break your bank but still deliver an impressive result,  Vankyo Leisure 3 Projector is your ideal choice.

Best suited for standard office presentation and home movie nights, this projector’s display output can be adjusted from 32 to 175 inches, depending on the wall space you have. It has a contrast ratio of 2000 to 1 and able to display resolution up to 1920 x 1080 for a bright and crisp picture.

Apart from the specification for this projector, we love that you can also connect it to smartphones and gaming consoles for enjoyable gaming experience (the display output resolution can attest to that).

The set comes with a carrying case, a remote control, and HDMI, VGA, and AV cables each.

2. DR. J Professional HI-04 1080P Mini Projector

DR. J Professional HI-04 1080P Mini Projector

If you are hesitant to fork out a full case of a projector, why not consider a ‘mini-projector’ instead? DR. J HI-04 has labeled one thanks for its compact design and designed with portability in mind, weight at around 3 lbs.

Simply plug in the projector to your chosen media (from laptop, TV, or smartphone through its VGA, HDMI, USB and auxiliary inputs) and the projector display at the blank screen with its 840 X 480 resolution; the projector can still support up to 1080p HD resolution, but with some downscaling in quality which in our opinion won’t be an issue if you intended to use it solely for movies (or games that don’t require too much contrast). As for business purposes, DR. J HI-04 points out that it’s not really ideal to do so – the resolution will come off as disappointing, to quote from the reviews we looked through.

DR. J HI-04 uses a LED light source that produces brightness level at 2000 lumens with 2000 to 1 contrast ratio – pretty much a decent number for other projectors in the similar price range.

While we are impressed that even a compact projector also has a built-in speaker, the quality is not the best as you can hope for, but this can easily be remedied by plugging in external speaker at the input.

3. iDGLAX iDG-787W LCD LED Video Multi-Media Mini Portable Projector

iDGLAX iDG-787W LCD LED Video Multi-Media Mini Portable Projector

Another friendly-wallet projector that you can consider, iDGLAX iDG-787W LCD LED Video Multi-Media Mini Portable Projector gives you a decent display, with its unique feature – extreme brightness.

Indeed, the brightness feature is what caught our attention as it’s practically unheard of among budget-friendly models, making it a perfect option to choose if you want to display movie/media during the day (of course, with a brightness of 2000 lumens, the display projected in darkened room will surely be impressive).

That said, the gripe that we have to deal is the projector only display resolution at 800×480 which we think is too low compared with movies’ resolution available nowadays. Sure, if your media file has 1080p file it can still display through this projector but it won’t display a true pixel count.

Best Light Life:

ViewSonic 3600 Lumens SVGA High Brightness Projector

ViewSonic 3600 Lumens SVGA High Brightness Projector

ViewSonic PA503S is all about brightness and it does deliver the promise on top of other features you’d expect from a projector. Boasting at  3600 ANSI Lumens of brightness with  SuperColor technology for accurate color output and contrast ratio at 22000 to 1.

The projector also comes with two different modes for the lamp – with normal mode for normal use, and power saving feature (comes with power saving Eco and SuperEco mode for automatic shut off or to dim the display) to extend the lamp’s lifespan.

Es, it’s all about the light and brightness.

Let’s talk about other features in this model: we like that this projector is user-friendly and quite easy to set up – ideal for nearly all uses such as movies for both outdoor and indoor, presentations, as well as for gaming – supporting HDMI, RCA, and VGA and compatible with most devices including Mac computers, PCs/laptops, DVDs and Blu-Ray Players, as well as allowing for a 3D viewing.

Best Overall:

Optoma HD142X 1080p 3000 Lumens 3D DLP Home Theater Projector

For a projector that covers every essential aspect that makes a good projector, this one from Optoma is your choice. This model is still within your budget and yet the features cover most of what you need for a decent, all-around projector, for average use to movie buff to gaming enthusiasts.

Best Projector Brand’s Best Seller:

1. Epson VS240 SVGA 3LCD Projector 3000 Lumens Color Brightness

Epson VS240 SVGA 3LCD Projector 3000 Lumens Color Brightness

A well-known brand for electronics, Epson VS240 SVGA 3LCD Projector offers essential features that you expect, within affordable price range. In fact, compared feature for feature, this model comes as one of the cheapest option to purchase in today’s market (hence, it gets into our review list).

Mainly built for business purposes, the projector is built with 3LCD, a 3-chip tech that gives 3X brightness, 3000 lumens for both color and white brightness, and wider color gamut compared with other projectors, with faster setup and better display quality.

Since this projector is created to cater for the business sector, the display resolution is limited to 800×600 SVGA, but fret not this model is still versatile enough for you to use for other purposes where the high-performance display isn’t mandatory (movies and casual games).

2. ViewSonic PJD5555W 3300 Lumens WXGA HDMI Projector

ViewSonic PJD5555W 3300 Lumens WXGA HDMI Projector

ViewSonic PJD5555W is a good choice projector that you can add to your wishlist – it delivers a solid image an audio quality, perhaps comparatively better than other DLP models.

The projector delivers WXGA at 12800×800 resolution with 16:10 aspect ratio, and with brightness level at 3300 lumens (already pretty impressive right here) in portable dimension. The model comes with two VGA ports (which double as component video), one audio jack, one S-video port, an RCA composite video jack, a mini USB type B port for remote mouse control, as well as an HDMI port.

Testing out, ViewSonic PJD5555W’s color quality is a bit off balance with reds and yellows that come off at dull side which is a common issue among DLP projectors (that are generally they’re lower in color brightness compared to white, when compared with LED-based projectors). plus, there’s even a blue tint coming off at certain display, as some reviewers noted.

As for audio quality, the speaker can be reasonably loud and we say it’s appropriate enough for normal use. Of course, you can always plug in an external speaker if you to take the audio to the next level. But hey, if you plan to buy the projector that doesn’t require such detail in color correction, this model is still an excellent choice for your needs.

3. BenQ DLP HD 1080p Projector (TH670) – 3D Home Theater Projector

BenQ DLP HD 1080p Projector (TH670) – 3D Home Theater Projector

BenQ TH670 is considered to be inexpensive projector made for both home and office use; to quote from their official website, as  “Home Entertainment Projector”.

Proudly display quality at 1080p with 3000 lumens for brightness, this projector not only can be used for movies and office purposes; its spec is powerful enough for full HD 3D support and gaming experience.

The model features four different modes to suit your needs – Bright, Vivid, Cinema, and Game modes and (we love) two user mode for you to set up customized mode accordingly. Certainly for Vivid, Cinema, and Game modes give you a vivid and highly saturated color display with each color is balanced well for each mode.

The annoying thing though is the model automatically resets itself to Bright mode every time if you want to play a media file from either a DVD or Blu-ray disc, forcing you to get u and switch the mode for each movie.

The audio is good in our opinion; decent sound quality with an appropriate volume level to fill a typical home and office rooms. As an extra feature, BenQ TH670 comes with password protection, a Kensington lock slot on the back and a security bar included.

Comes with one one-year warranty for parts and labor and a 90-day warranty for the bulb.

Best Portable Mini Projector:

1. CRENOVA XPE496 Mini Projector, Full HD 1080P

CRENOVA XPE496 Mini Projector, Full HD 1080P

CRENOVA XPE496 Mini Projector is another compact projector with impressive features if the size is the main factor you want to consider. And at a reasonable price point, this projector is looking good with approximately 80% higher brightness level compared with other similar HDMI projectors, even in daylight, outdoor setting with 1080p display.

You can connect this nifty projector to most gadgets – tablets, gaming consoles, smartphones, and laptops to name a few, through HDMI, SD, USB, and MHL input and can be controlled with a  remote controller.

The only downside is this model’s speaker is not loud enough when it used, which in our opinion is best to connect it with a decent speaker instead with either Bluetooth or jack connector. But at the same time, we love that this projector seems quieter compared with other models in similar features – a plus point since you don’t want the background white noise to interferes with what you’re watching.

CRENOVA XPE496 Mini Projector comes with one year warranty, plus a lifetime customer service.

2. ELEPHAS LED Mini Video Projector

ELEPHAS LED Mini Video Projector

Another compact-sized projector, Elephas YG400 is considered to be the gold standard for budget-friendly projectors. While low price means the features may likely to be not impressive to boast about, Elephas YG400 still delivers superior output even at a low price.

If the design of this projection is not a big deal for you, the retro-inspired design shows not only at the look but how you use it too: you need to manually rotate the front to adjust the focus.

Connected with multiple ports including HDMI, USB, SD card reader, and VGA, as well as audio jack, AV jack. And it also comes with a second 5v USB slot to charge mobile devices

The 480p resolution might be a minus compared with other models (and we agree at some point) but don’t let deter you like the overall quality of the display is still impressive – at brightness of 1200 lumens and 1000 to 1 contrast ration, it still decent in our opinion, for daily, normal use.

The downside is this mini projector comes with a five feet power supply cable that may be too short to use, especially if you plan to use this beauty for outdoor movie nights and/or gaming purposes – a separate extension cord might be needed.

As for media files, Elephas YG400 can play every type of audio, image, and video file available – clearly, it’s not made for the professional sector; only basic txt documents are supported.

And yes, the audio quality is clearly subpar – distortion background noise is imminent, even at a lower volume and with Surround and SRS TruSurround XT. Our advice? Get a separate speaker and be done with it.

But of course, strictly for the display, Elephas YG400 is still considered to be a good choice to have

3. QKK 2200 [2019 Upgrade] Mini Projector

QKK [2019 Upgrade] Mini Projector

QKK 2200 Mini Projector is one of the popular mini projectors in the market, for a good reason. A compact projector that delivers an impressive result, the nifty gadget is convenient, portable (at 2 lbs), and certainly value for money.

This model uses an LED bulb (the color temperature at 22000K) that’s lasted up to 50,000 hours. The image quality is surprisingly well thanks to its high range of luminosity, at full HD LED projection for 1080p content. You can plug in either to HDMI, VGA, AV, and common SD cards, as well as flash drive and smartphones.

One of the notable features that we think might be handy is the double USB port included in this model that makes media swapping and viewing easy peasy. After all, most gadgets nowadays are connected with USB hence it’s very convenient to include multiple drives at the same time (especially if you have multiple and different presentations to do in one setting).

QKK 2200 Mini Projector supports a wide variety of media files, including the most common ones such as MPEG, MOV, and AVI, as well as audio and image files, and txt documents.

This model delivers display at 800p and keep in mind that you may need to tweak the optical output for correct color configuration; a number of reviewers noted you need to adjust a little bit, depending on the device that you use for the files (a file sourced from laptop may require different setting at the projector compared with the one from flash drive).

Naturally, QKK 2200 Mini Projector exhibits a bright 2200 lumen output, with 2000 to 1 contrast ratio. And we love that QKK 2200 Mini Projector can play continuously up to 25 hours (a big point if you want to use for public display). the speaker would be something not to speak about (pun intended) that we recommend that you use a separate speaker at hand.
