One of the most annoying thing to see while vacuuming is the stairs. That’s the on of the pain point in cleaning, you can ask mothers out there if you don’t believe me. The whole setup is awkward while vacuuming that you’d give up and resort to using a broom instead. What if a vacuum for stairs exists?
To be exact, it’s a special handheld vacuum that you can use to get a job done perfectly. These handheld vacuum work to cover every nook and cranny of the awkward angle of the stairs, so there’s no debris left around. And with various models or handheld vacuums available, you can be sure to find out the right model that’s perfect for your needs. Better yet, we have reviewed a few of handheld vacuums covering a wide array of features and prices accordingly, so you can decide which model is the best for you.
For a start though, in finding the right handheld vacuum for your home, consider their size and mode of operation (either a compact handheld, 2-in-1, or the long, conventional model) as well as basic features that a good vacuum should have such as dust bag, cable length, and additional attachments if needed, especially if you have carpets on the stairs. .
EUREKA EasyClean Lightweight Handheld Vacuum Cleaner comes at first for being the most versatile vacuum and notable features at affordable price. Indeed, this portable, lightweight vacuum is not only for stairs; you can also use it in garage and car, weighing only at five pounds.
The vacuum comes with a brush function at the front that you can use to vacuum both hardwood, marble, or carpeted floors. And we love the exceptional product design of this vacuum’s ‘riser visor’ function that you can rotate the visor for the vacuum to suck debris horizontal and vertical surfaces effortlessly. And rest assured, the suction power of this vacuum is reasonably powerful to do the job. The extended 20-foot cable length makes its good vacuum that can cover large areas in one session.
The only downside is the vacuum can be a bit heavy for some, but not too heavy that you have difficulty to lug it around cleaning.
The package also comes with an additional crevice tool that you can attach to cover every nook and cranny – in this case, stairs. Come with a manufacturer one-year money-back guarantee.
Most people would consider Shark Rocket vacuums as a premium range model; the handheld vacuum comes with everything that you need in a single product: a crevice tool, mouth brush, a fully motorized roller brush. These tools are designed to only vacuum wide area at an approximately 15-foot long radius; the vacuum can clean up pretty much any narrow and tight spaces, upholstery, and much more.
The vacuum is much lighter compared with Eureka, despite being a powerful vacuum. And this can be a good point to consider if you have a lot of areas to cover. The dust cap attached with the vacuum also makes cleaning afterward easy-peasy; just tip the cup over, and you’re done!
Don’t let the high price deter you from considering this beauty; we think the all-in-one feature and several attachments along in the package makes it a reasonable option.
At first impression, Shark Navigator Lift-Away vacuum cleaner looks like it’s not made for narrow, awkward spaces like stairs but the model proved us wrong: the sleek-looking vacuum cleaner gets the job done, professionally. Shark Navigator is designed to cover both floor type areas in vacuuming: the upheld mode for regular cleaning while the canister attachment at the side can be used as a handheld – possibly a major feature of this model, compared with Sharkr Rocket Ultra Light reviewed previously.
The package comes with a wide brush head and a crevice tool, plus a dust cup that’s easy to clean after you’re done with the cleaning. As a bonus, we love the HEPA filter included in the product so that no allergens will escape while vacuuming. All in all, Shark Navigator Lift-Away surprises an excellent product and us to purchase.
The only downside is this model is significantly heavier compared with others that we reviewed here (does the 25-foot cord length contributes to the weight?). It might not be a big deal for you considering the canister attachment is what you’ll be using to vacuum the stairs, but it can be a major point if you have a wide area to cover in one vacuuming session.
What’s not to love about VonHaus 2 in 1 Stick & Handheld Vacuum Cleaner? The consensus is we love this model, and it comes close with Shark Navigator, as it can work as a conventional vacuum or as a handheld.
We especially love the 1.3L dust bag capacity that it can work to cover a wide area in one single vacuum session, with a sponge and HEPA filtration system that can bind and stop tiny particles from re-circulating back into the air. Although we might point out this also means you’ll be cleaning the bagless frequently; a feature that can be beneficial or otherwise, depending on your needs.
Another notable feature is the vacuum noise is a lot quieter compared with other models. Not that we need it of course. But this feature can be handy if you have babies sleeping or perhaps quietness is something that you value the most.
Comes with a crevice tool, extension tube, and a mini brush to for nearly all surfaces to vacuum, covers at the 19.5-foot radius.
We all know that Black+Decker makes quality machines for years, so there’s no surprise with vacuum cleaners we’re reviewing here as well. The handheld machine is cordless and rechargeable (Li-cell and a charging base) that it has superb suction power compared with other models, especially the ones reviewed right here.
This beauty does an impeccable job cleaning at both wide and narrow surfaces for a quite long time (thanks to its cyclonic action that spins away dirt from the filter for continuous high performance) and it’s lightweight to handle around. Plus, the dust cup is easy to clean as well (just tip it int the dustbin), with decent size at 18 ounces.
What we don’t like though, is the body is wider than the nozzle that makes cleaning tight spaces tricky. Chalk it up to poor product design, we hope the brand will improve for the new version by trimming down the fat at the sides of the vacuum.
Come with a brush tool, long crevice tool, a pet hair brush (very handy if your pets tend to shed hair a lot). Overall, Black+Decker vacuum is powerful, compact and does the job well. Another downside is the price can be too high for some, compared with other vacuum models listed here.
6. Dirt Devil Scorpion Handheld Vacuum Cleaner, Corded, Small, Dry Hand Held Vac With Cord / Vacuum for stairs
This rugged beauty from Dirt Devil is a superb handheld vacuum with exceptional suction power. It’s quite versatile on its own and the tech used in this model is excellent.
Dirt Devil Scorpion Handheld Vacuum Cleaner is very lightweight considering the attachments the machine comes (a dustbag, tools, and hose stored together). One major feature is looking through the reviews is this vacuum cleaner does a superb job in picking up pet’s hair, effortlessly.
The handheld does not come with any filter which can be a major downside if you’re looking for a handheld vacuum for home use. On the flip side, there won’t be any loss in suction. A probably because there’s no filter in the vacuum, this machine is loud with a capital L (you need to consider it if you can’t stand loud noises for a long time).
Considering the suction power is good, Dirt Devil Scorpion Handheld Vacuum Cleaner is a good, decent choice if you’re looking for no-frills handheld vacuum just to get the job done (and cleaning off pet’s hair as well).
